  • Undertake all maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed to set quality standards without rework or abnormal overtime
  • Carry out morning plant inspections
  • Fill out all job cards and ensure that all other maintenance procedures are followed
  • Take part in root cause failure analysis and suggest ways of improving equipment and processes in the department
  • Identify repetitive breakdown and causes
  • Attend daily morning maintenance meetings
  • Manage health and safety and ensure good housekeeping in and around the plant and workshop
  • Ensure all maintenance procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure machine availability
  • Quick response to breakdowns as specified in the policy
  • Ensure availability of spares and adhere to spares requisition procedures
  • Identify critical mechanical spares
  • Ensure all machine quality standards are met
  • Minimize disruption to manufacturing by ensuring equipment’s are in sound mechanical condition.
  • Training and coaching of operators on how to solve easy mechanical problems on the machinery to minimize downtime
    Adhere to SHER
  • Continuous Improvement ( Modifications to improve machine performance as and when required)

Formal Qualifications

  • Minimum N3 Mechanical Engineering with Trade Test

Work Experience

  • Matric, N3 to N5 in Mechanical field, with relevant trade papers

Knowledge and Comperencies

  • Experience in Tissue Industry
  • Good communication skills (verbal & written), be a team player (be able to work with other people)
  • Able to work hard under pressure and pay attention to details
  • Welding qualification
  • Overhead crane license, forklift/clamp truck license
  • High physical energy levels; comfortable performing repetitive tasks, adapt well to changes in job requirements
  • Will have to work  at height, high noise, dust and high humidity environment


  • Be willing to perform standby duties
  • Be prepared to work outside normal working hours
