The successful incumbent will be responsible for operating the Alfa winders to ensure targets are met at the right quality standards with the minimum waste, in a safe manner and according to the ISO requirements of Twinsaver Group


  • Operate the winder and core winder efficiently
  • Run at optimal speeds by making correct adjustments to machine settings
  • Complete maintenance tasks such as lubricating of winder, accumulator and log saw, changing of perforation blades and anvils, replacement of deceleration belts
  • Assisting maintenance crew during planned shuts and breakdowns
  • Completing daily inspections and highlighting potential problems to the team leader
  • Complete change-overs within the time allowed
  • Identify different wadding grades and relevant product codes
  • Report on shift production in log books
  • Prepare and load reels onto the back-stand
  • Issue all pre-staged ancillaries(plastic, labels cores etc.) and wadding requirements to his/her line
  • Return all ancillaries and wadding back to materials shop floor at end of run
  • Check that correct materials are being used
  • Complete CAR’s correctly and timeously
  • Complete quality log correctly
  • Visually inspect finished product for tail seal, perforation length, diameter, roll height, print quality where applicable, straightness of cut, sheet formation, pick up
  • Follow isolation procedure
  • Complete start-up check lists and report any deviations
  • Blow down the log saw at least once per shift
  • Ensure that all tools are stored correctly
  • Ensure that all spills are cleaned up immediately
  • Keep all operating areas clean and clear of obstructions
  • Follow all written safe work procedures
  • Report any safety deviations to the safety representative
  • Identify and report on areas of wastage
  • Report deviations in quality and productivity to the team leader immediately



  • Grade 12 /NQF4
  • N3 (preferably technically based)
  • Crane license

Knowledge and  Experience

  • Operator experience in a FMCG environment
  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Must be self-reliant and accountable for all she/he does
